Episode 26: The Menstrual Cycle and Training Part 2: Ovulation, Luteal Phase, and RED-S

What's up, runners! In this week’s episode, we're reducing the shame and stigma about training and the menstrual cycle. This is part two of a two part series where:

  1. Part one was focusing on the bleeding and follicular phases of the menstrual cycle.

  2. Part two is focusing on the ovulation and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle.

Not only are we talking candidly about a natural process that many female runners go through, we are also discussing suggestions for nutrition, supplementation, recovery, and training cycles during the third and fourth phases of the menstrual cycle!

We are also going to talk about RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport), which is the new, updated term associated with the Female Athlete Triad. Science has caught up to the fact that RED-S can affect all types of athletes, including men, and is more involved than just bone density and period changes.

Get ready to improve your overall health and training with the knowledge dropped in this episode of the Up & Running Podcast!
