RUNNER TESTIMONIALS

How amazing would it feel to finally run pain free?

What is the Runner Reset Program?

The Runner Reset Program is designed for runners experiencing acute on chronic injuries that are limiting them from running, training and performing as they enjoy. This program utilizes a holistic approach by not only addressing pain and injury through running specific exercise progressions but also by assessing other lifestyle factors that will influence healing, recovery and performance. These include nutrition, hydration, sleep and stress management.

How is the Runner Reset different from traditional PT?

Traditional physical therapy is typically most appropriate for acute running related injuries i.e. ankle sprains, muscle strains, falls or post surgical. But runners are known to ignore the warning signs of injury by continuing to run through the pain. This usually results in an acute on chronic injury or injuries that repetitively plague the runner whenever they try to increase frequency, duration or intensity of runs.

The problem with going to a traditional physical therapy clinic at this point in time is that the traditional model will look to address the pain through basic rehabilitative exercises that focus on improving mobility, strength and stability in an isolated region. But this neglects to consider how the body’s systems work and communicate as a whole, especially with a full body sport like running.

Through a comprehensive evaluation, the Runner Reset program will identify any functional limitations that exist and provide running specific exercise progressions that simulate the demands of running by working the body as a whole versus just parts in isolation.

By the end of the program, runners are bridging the gap from rehab to performance and longevity by taking the concepts they learn in the program and applying them to their strength training routines.

How does the Runner Reset work?

During the initial coaching call, Dr. Lauren will complete a full body functional assessment to decipher the root cause of your injury. You will then review the results and create a plan together to optimize your body’s natural movement patterns to decrease pain and increase running performance via corrective exercise.

You will meet with Dr. Lauren once a week for the first 4-6 weeks to maximize your recovery and accelerate your ability to return to running pain free. Exercises during this stage of the program look to decrease pain and improve neuromuscular coordination, which is why session frequency is higher as the nervous system adapts quickly. Typically 95% of runners are beginning their return to run program at 6 weeks.

At this point, session frequency will decrease because exercises will begin to progress in difficulty to further simulate the demands of running. Session frequency decreases to allow time for strength adaptations to occur between sessions.

Moving forward each session then looks to progress your exercises to meet your body’s individual needs as the demands of running also increase. By the end of the program, 95% of runners are running longer, stronger and faster than ever before!

The ultimate goal is to help runners achieve pain free running with a program that is sustainable for their lifestyle. Each program is uniquely customized based upon a runner’s experience, injury history and goals.

Following this format the program can last up to 4-6 months depending on the runner’s specific needs.

Why does the program take 6 months?

Most running related injuries occur from over training and lack of recovery. And as previously mentioned, most runners will not seek out professional guidance when they start to feel the onset of pain or an injury. This typically results in a more complex injury history and/or acute on chronic pain. Due to these factors, pain reduction and return to running takes additional time to not only reduce pain perception but improve neuromuscular coordination, muscular strength and endurance to handle the demands of running whether for fun or competition.

How long does each session last?

Initial coaching calls take approximately 90 minutes due to the extensive assessment performed, introduction to exercises and follow up questioning.

Follow-up coaching calls are approximately 45-60 minutes in duration.

How do we meet for the coaching calls?

90% of runners meet via a private zoom meeting. Each appointment reminder contains the zoom link needed to access your coaching call if meeting virtually.

Do you see runners in person?

Yes, though spots are limited for in-person. If you are specifically interested in participating in this program in-person please inquire during your Discovery call.

Will insurance cover the program or can I be reimbursed via my insurance company?

The Runner Reset Program is not covered or reimbursable via insurance. The level of care, support and coaching that is provided to each runner is above what standard insurance companies are willing to pay or reimburse.

That being said Dr. Lauren offers payment plan options and exclusive perks for those looking to pay in full. And certain FSA/HSA programs can be accepted as payment along with all other major credit cards, cash, check and/or venmo.

What’s the outcome of the Runner Reset Program?

At the end of the program, 95% of runners are back to running pain free. Some are even returning to racing!

This step-by-step comprehensive approach is designed to meet you where you are at in your individual running and rehab journey. Outcomes do vary based on each individual.
