Isn’t strength training going to make me big, bulky, and slow?
NO! Strength training will NOT make you big, bulky or slow!
This is a common myth in the running community. It is actually physiologically impossible for an endurance athlete to get “bulky” with strength training due to neurological cross signaling that occurs when a runner lifts heavy AND runs long distance. As well as the fact that run specific strength training does not place a runner under the same demands as an olympic weight lifter, power lifter or crossfitter. When programmed properly based upon a runner’s needs and their training demands, strength training will only help improve form and efficiency!

12 week strength training program delivered to your phone via the Trainheroic app (free to download).
Two weekly 45 minute full body strength training circuits that can be performed at home or in the gym, specifically geared towards runners.
Access to reference videos for form demonstration that include voiced over instructions.
2 Monthly 1:1 coaching calls with Dr. Lauren at the beginning & half way through the program.
An individualized warm up to perform prior to the strength training circuits and/or your weekly runs.
Guidance and recommendations for appropriate resistance or weights to utilize based upon current fitness and previous strength training experience.

What can a runner in PR STRONG expect by the end of the program?
Level 1 participants can expect to build a strong foundation of run specific strength training with education & support through the program. While Level 2 participants can expect to advance their run specific strength training with specific exercise progressions designed to further improve physical performance. Finally, Marathon Focus participants can expect to build strength in the initial base building phase of their training. Then participants will shift into defensive strength training in order to stay healthy, powerful & strong through the remainder of their training cycle and as they cross their half or full marathon finish line!
