Hey Runners,
My name is Dr. Lauren LaPierre. I am a doctor of physical therapy, runner rehab specialist and running coach! I have been a licensed physical therapist since 2017 and coaching distance runners since 2020.
I have over a decade of competitive running experience, competing throughout high school and later for the University of Rhode Island as a Division I athlete. My personal journey with running is the reason I went to PT school and later started this business, The Personalized Running Doc.
Throughout my early years of running, I was plagued with repetitive training related injuries; ITB syndrome, Runner’s Knee, Bursitis, Achilles Tendinitis, etc. Every time I would see progress in my performance, an injury wouldn’t be far behind that would ultimately sideline me for weeks or months at a time. The most frustrating part was no one knew how to help me.
By the time I was 22, I had doctors, physical therapists and athletic trainers, all telling me the same thing:
That I was getting too old to run
That I should just stop running
Or accept that running will be painful
At one point, I even started to believe them. But somewhere deep down I knew this couldn’t be true, which is what sparked my own interest, higher education and extensive research into running. Utilizing what I have learned and what I call the five facets of fitness, I restored my own body, increased my running capacity and now have been injury free since 2014. Since graduate school, I have returned to competitive racing and I am now a two time Boston Marathon Qualifier and NYC Marathon Qualifier!
My mission is to help other runner’s overcome training related injuries when all else has failed, empowering them to continue running for themselves and crushing their goals as they do. Since 2020, my comprehensive personalized approach and hybrid training model has helped runners all over the world return to running pain free and reach their maximum running potential!
